Toronto πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Published: 05.08.2024

Finally, it was time to leave LA for Toronto. I landed at the international airport in Toronto at 9 in the morning and immediately made my way to the city center, where my hostel is located. I will spend the first 2 days there until Mom and Ruby come to visit me. I took this opportunity to organize my backpack and laptop a bit. I spent the morning of my arrival crafting a welcome poster for Ruby and Mom. Then we went to our new accommodation and off to the airport. After a few hours of delay for the two of them, they finally walked out the door in the arrivals hall. I jumped up and down to greet them. After a few communication issues with the taxi driver, we finally found our taxi. Off we went to our Airbnb. Once we made ourselves comfortable and exchanged the most important news, we went out for dinner in the evening. Quite tired and drained from the long day, especially for Mom and Ruby, we fell into bed completely exhausted. The next day, we started leisurely with cuddle time in bed before picking up breakfast from the bakery. We enjoyed the morning in the park. In the afternoon, we took a city tour of Toronto to learn about the history and hidden gems of Toronto and Canada. We were able to take away a lot of new knowledge and explore the city in the following days. In the evening, we found a nice restaurant and ended the day on a pleasant note. The next day, we, of course, started again at our favorite bakery and then made our way to the ferry to the islands of Toronto. After a 15-minute ferry ride, you are right in the middle of Lake Ontario with an impressive view of the Toronto skyline. We walked from west to east across all the islands and in between, we got a cocktail to cool off. Unfortunately, the water and beaches weren't quite inviting for swimming. In the afternoon, we returned to the mainland and went to Kensington Market. There we had a really good Jamaican dinner and browsed through some hippie shops. In the evening, Ruby and I went back into the city to experience Toronto’s nightlife. After checking out a bar or two and with all the bars closing, we headed home at 4 a.m. For our last day, we planned something very special. We really dove into the world of baseball. Baseball is one of the most popular sports in Canada, and Toronto's home team is known as one of the best teams in the country. Upon our arrival, we were surprised by good vibes and loud music. We had little knowledge about baseball itself but the atmosphere was simply infectious. With good spirits and a home win, we then went to the very quiet Art Gallery. It offered a few very interesting and good paintings and sculptures. We spent the rest of the afternoon there. We watched the sunset from the middle of the city during dinner. Before heading back, we followed the traces of JM and visited his former university. The next morning, we headed right back to the airport early to pick up our car for the next few days. Thus, our road trip was about to begin! 🫢🏼
