Arrival in Lima was at 3:30 in the morning, so I napped on a bench at the airport for a few hours - officially back to the backpacking life, I would say. In the morning, I first went to the hostel, but of course, I couldn't check in yet, so I looked for a place to have breakfast. Once satisfied, I wandered through the Miraflores district and was surprised by the beautiful views of the Lima coastline. It was so lovely that I walked a bit further and watched the surfers. In the afternoon, I could finally check in, and then I enjoyed a long shower. Afterwards, I joined a sunset walk organized by the hostel. The sunset was indeed really beautiful! A pretty successful first day in Peru. The next day started with a slight hangover, but nevertheless, I wanted to see the city. So, in the morning, I went on a city tour through Lima's old town. It is truly impressive and, in my opinion, really clean compared to other large cities I have seen in Latin America. Lima really showcases its stylish buildings. However, there's not much more to do in the old town, so we made our way back to the coast. We strolled along the beach for a while and then, in the afternoon, all sat down to plan our onward journey. In the evening, we explored another district, Barranco. We also stayed there for dinner. Lima is known for its excellent food, and I was never disappointed. It was our last evening in Peru's capital, so we concluded it with a Pisco Sour. Early in the morning, I headed to the bus for a 10-hour trip north. Finally back into the mountains! 🫶🏼
