With a heavy heart, we left our suite that we had to vacate by 08:00.
We were supposed to leave the ship around 09:15, so we still had plenty of time for one last leisurely breakfast before our color was called for disembarkation.
It took quite a while for us to pass through immigration and customs and be greeted by our facilitator who was supposed to take us to the hotel. We stood there waiting for other guests when Ulrike asked me where my backpack was. I had actually left it at the baggage control and only took our two suitcases. Unbelievable, but true. After leaving the customs area, you're not supposed to go back. But I was able to reach the supervisor at the door and was let back in. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who had left something behind, as there were several things left. I had to describe what was in the backpack and was allowed to take it back. What a relief!
We were then driven to the Conrad Centennial Hotel where a day room was booked for us. The hotel is centrally located, so you can walk to the major attractions. Since it was raining, we weren't in a hurry. We dropped off our suitcases and had an espresso - there was a Nespresso machine and capsules.
But then we wanted to see more of Singapore. Armed with an umbrella, we set off. The Millennium Walk starts right at the hotel and is covered, leading to a medium-sized mall. But at the other end of the mall, we ended up in the rain. We actually wanted to visit the Gardens by the Bay, but with the rain, we postponed that and instead headed to the Shoppes by the Bay via the Helix Bridge, a huge mall right next to the famous Sands by the Bay Hotel with its boat-shaped rooftop garden. Unfortunately, the weather didn't get better, so we couldn't take a walk around the old harbor either. After some time, we went back to our day room, had a small snack, and then changed for the journey.
We were picked up at 7:45 pm and driven to the airport. Check-in was quick, so we had time to explore this very beautiful airport. I haven't seen a more beautiful airport. There are living flowers everywhere, everything is spacious, it's full of life, and JEWEL is an extraordinary attraction in itself.
Waterfall in JEWELThe flight LH791 with an A350-900 (D-AIXI) departed on time. It was quite full, but we were lucky to have three adjacent seats for ourselves. So we could spread out a bit. We slept a lot, so the 13 hours were bearable. We arrived in Munich at 05:50 am on time. And the impression was back that the Munich airport is quite provincial, especially in the early morning hours before 6 am. Waiting for our suitcases at the wrong carousel for a long time and the display only showing the right one after some time didn't improve this impression.
Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long for the suburban train and were home by 8:00 am.
We immediately started unpacking the suitcases and Ulrike started the washing machine.
Everyday life had us again, but we still went to bed around 6:00 pm.
A very nice vacation had unfortunately come to an end.
