Arrival and arrival

Published: 08.03.2024

day 1

The flight from Amsterdam to Atlanta was very relaxing, we were able to catch up on some sleep and the food on board was surprisingly good. After almost 10 hours in the air, we went to the USA for migration, where the next disruption was waiting - the ESTA system, which is also required for transit flights, failed. With a transfer time of 90 minutes, I could easily have done without it. Everything was then done manually and after a rather long delay, I still had almost 45 minutes to pick up my luggage, check it in again and have my hand luggage checked again. With an unprecedented sprint and extremely quick waiting, the time was made up and the connecting flight was finally reached. On board, a nice Ecuadorian woman gave me her cell phone to inform my husband that I would arrive according to plan. The flight also felt very entertaining with her. When I arrived in Bogota, I was picked up by Marius and Luisa and surprised with a welcome package and, as an additional aid to falling asleep, there was one or two nightcaps with Latin American music in a cozy atmosphere.
