For our last day in the Kakadu National Park, we planned two shorter lookout walks and a bit longer walk to a swimming pool.
For the first walk to the Yurmikmik lookout, the most difficult thing was to find the car park... Since it is on the road to Gunlom which is closed since a couple of years the signs and so on are not taken care of, so only with a map you can find the car park. The walk up to the lookout is steep, but you can listen and see in the distance the Kakadus, but they fly away as soon as you get closer...
The next stop was the Bukbukluk lookout. The signs said 45min walk, well it didn´t even take 10 min and the lookout was just ok.
The last stop in the Kakadu National Park (and probably my favourite one) was Maguk Watefalls in the Barramundi Gorge. It is about 2km walk, first easy sandy walk next to the water and although tempting no swimming as not only freshis do live there... Second part of the walk is scrambling over rocks and cross the water (not deep) before you finally reach the falls and the pool to swim. The pool, the crystal clear water, blue skies and the waterfall still with water running in the late dry season, just perfect last stop with swimming before leaving the Kakadu National Park.
