Day 144-145 Esperance & Lucky Bay

Published: 09.11.2022

After the cold and rainy days on the way to Esperance, we were happy that the weather was slightly improving with less rain. So Stuart was eager to get to Lucky Bay in the Cape Range National Park to find some kangaroos at the beach. Well, there were no kangaroos on the beach, although we stayed for quite a while and watched the clouds moving in. Stuart was not happy because there were no kangaroos, but we could motivate him to go on with some banana for the moment.

We drove on for short stops at Rossiter Bay, where the signs said there would be bird watching - no birds, just some picnic place. Then we stopped at Thistle Cove for some good views of the coast and the stone formations around. The last stop of the day was Hellfire Bay, which has a beautiful beach with turquoise water as well, just too cold weather to go for a swim....

This day we made it just in time back to Esperance to enter the ice-cream shop next door to get Stuart some ice-cream so he is not too disappointed about the missing kangaroos at the beach.

As the streets in the other national park around Esperance, the Cape Arid National Park, were closed due to the wet and rainy weather in the last few days, we decided to give it another try to find kangaroos at Lucky Bay. Well, at first the car got bogged in the sand and we had to dig ourselves out of the sand and then, despite waiting for a few more hours, there were still no kangaroos...
