Hello hello,
Waking up by the sea today was truly beautiful. When I woke up, I went straight out to a bench. No one was there that early and the sea was completely still. Except for a lot of seals, who occasionally appeared in the morning sun :-)
After a good breakfast, our journey continued north. Along the way, we first stopped at Stocking Creek Falls. I am always amazed at how in Canada you can just drive off the road and immediately find yourself in a forest with a waterfall.
Our next stop was Westwood Lake. The weather was so nice again that I went for a little three-hour hike. The path led along the lake at first, before going up a mountain through the forest. From up there, I had a great view over Westwood Lake and could even see Nanaimo and the sea. The ascent only took an hour, but the descent took almost two hours because I got lost once :-D The area is very popular with mountain bikers, so there were many different trails that were not all marked on Google Maps. And so I accidentally took the wrong turn and took a little detour. But on the way, I also passed by Beaver Pond and Morrell Lake, where I would have never gone otherwise. So luckily the detour was not completely wasted :-)
After a little break at a recreation center to take a shower again after a few days, we stopped in Nanaimo, where we wanted to spend the night.
