Hello,
today we started our day quite early. After a quick breakfast, we headed to our first stop: the Englishman River Falls. A trail led through the forest to the waterfall, passing many stone towers built by hikers.
After that, we made a short stop at Qualicum Beach to have a quick lunch. However, it was so windy that we didn't get a chance to sit on the beach. Instead, we stayed in the car, overlooking the ocean :-)
From the coast, we wanted to drive inland to Port Alberni. On the way, we passed Coombs, where there was the Old Country Market 'Goats on Roof'. A market with mostly international food and many original German products like Knorr Fix or Knödeln. And yes, as the name suggests, there were actually goats on the roof of the market building :-D
The next stops on the way to Port Alberni were Cameron Lake and Cathedral Grove, an old forest with huge trees. Arriving in Port Alberni, we did some shopping and then went to the harbor. Before dinner, we checked out the 'Hole in the Wall' - a hole in an earth wall. Nothing really spectacular, but interesting to see.
Tonight, we wanted to eat out for a change instead of cooking ourselves. So why not eat at the 'Little Bavarian Restaurant' in Port Alberni? We were even standing in front of it, looking forward to some authentic German food, but unfortunately, it was fully booked. So in the end, we only had pizza (which was a bit greasy, like all American pizzas). We spent the night in Port Alberni in a Walmart parking lot.
