Day 1

Evening excursion in Tokyo

After boarding the ship and settling into our cabin, the booked excursion starts at 4 PM. This way, we aim to overcome the jet lag a little. Since German tourists are always punctual, our excursion actually begins a bit earlier. Unfortunately, our local tour guide speaks very poor English. Fortunately, a staff member from the shore excursion department is present. She translates everything for us. We learn a bit about Tokyo and its inhabitants. After about 30 minutes, we reach our destination, the Senso-Ji Temple and the Asakusa district. Here, after a brief introduction to the temple and the alleys, we have 3 hours of free time. Since the weather was expected to become unstable in the evening, our bus driver was well prepared. Japan does not leave its guests in the rain.

We stroll in daylight and twilight through the temple and the shopping streets. As the evening progressed and the rain began, it turned out that 3 hours of free time was much too long. Below are photos from the temple and alleys. Right on time at 8 PM, we returned to the port.

Conclusion:

84€ per person was once again too expensive for this excursion. 1 hour of panoramic drive to Asakusa ultimately turned into a 30-minute outbound trip and 30 minutes back.
