Why we stayed overnight in Edfu remains a mystery to me. There was nothing to see at night and we were nestled between several ships. Now we also got to hear the loud noise of the ventilation systems in full volume. Sleeping was hardly on our minds. How did the guests on the other side of the ship put up with this for the last few nights?

At 08:00, we set off again and head to the lock at Esna, which we reach at 11:15. Now we have to wait because only 4 ships can be processed per lock cycle, and several are idling in the waiting area. A lock cycle also takes about 30 minutes.

At 13:30, we finally approach the lock.

And at 14:30, we are finally allowed to go through the lock.

We enjoy the afternoon with coffee and cake on the sun deck.

At 18:30, we're right in the middle of it again. We visit the Luxor Temple. Compared to the Karnak Temple, it's a smaller temple, but very impressive in the evening.

Especially the Avenue of Sphinxes, which connects the Luxor Temple to the Karnak Temple.

Following this, we took our additionally booked excursion for a carriage ride through Luxor. The horses were slightly better cared for, but it wasn't really recommended. The drivers were more in competition with each other, and I often found myself under the wheels in the traffic of Luxor. At least with our driver, we had the luck to receive some information about buildings in sight.

Now back to the ship. Last dinner, last brandy at the bar, packing the suitcases. Tomorrow we're going home.
