The fortress is located about 1.1 km (15 minutes) away from the ferry terminal Odyssey - Terminal 6 Maritima. Follow the signs to the harbor exit, and a short distance further, at the bus stop for the line to the old town, is the entrance.
Admission is free.
Construction of the castle began in 1608. From 1932 to 1939, it housed a prison, and in 1981 it was converted into a museum of the Spanish Army. The exhibition primarily showcases military materials from the 19th and 20th centuries.
From the outer wall, there is also a fantastic view of the city and the harbor.
