Today we took a trip to the Meiji Shrine (Shinto) located within Shibuya.
The complex is situated in a very large park area and is easily accessible on foot from one of the countless train stations.
There is etiquette at the large gates (Torii). You do not walk directly through the center, but rather to the side. At the threshold, one bows twice, claps twice, and bows once more (this is the official etiquette). A deep bow is also acceptable.
Around one of the two large trees inside the complex, there are wishes and prayers from visitors to the shrine written on small wooden tablets. I also discovered tablets from some German visitors here.
The architecture of these shrines is quite impressive and well worth a visit 🙏
