Tokyo

While yesterday we mostly wandered in the old and relatively quieter part of Tokyo, today was dedicated to the modern new Tokyo in the Shinjuku district.
Our first stop was the vast Meiji Shrine, the main shrine of all Tokyo. The shrine is surrounded by a large forest. Throughout the area were people writing their prayers on wooden plaques, which were hung next to the shrine and are read during the mass.
There are also colorful barrels of sake that make up nearly an entire wall. Thanks to the Japanese inscriptions, it looks truly spectacular.
Then it was time to head into the modern city. We walked around the parliament area, where the buildings really reach for the sky. Along the way we encountered Japanese businessmen with briefcases, who are said to work until they are completely exhausted.
Our next steps led us to an area with skyscrapers that resemble Godzilla's head. We were lucky; it had already gotten dark, and every hour on the hour, Godzilla starts spewing flames.
Then we ventured into a nearby alley, which probably had the smallest restaurants and stands in the world. Food is eaten completely outside, with just inches to pass through everywhere.
