Night in Kyoto

In the evening after visiting the Palace Park and the Sports Shrine, we had a beautiful guided night tour through the Gion district.

This is essentially the Geisha district. Early on, we were very lucky and managed to see real Geishas or Meikos (it was difficult to tell based on the clothing). The tour guide lady said there was only a 10 percent chance of seeing them. Taking photos was impossible during that brief moment. Later, we were able to see a Meiko in one of the alleys.

It was interesting to learn that if there is no menu hanging outside a restaurant, it is an establishment for private events only, and you can only be invited.

The Great Temple was also impressive and has been standing for a few centuries. We also passed by several shrines, including the Love Shrine. There was a statue where you had to write the name of the person in question on a piece of paper, stick it on, and then crawl through the hole in the statue. Depending on the direction, you make a wish for separation from a bad relationship or for a new connection. You can also crawl through both sides ;-) This is the most important stone for that in all of Japan.
