16.06.2022 Thursday 12th day

Published: 16.06.2022

So, it's Friday and now back to yesterday. The day started with a problem again. I took Ayko for a walk, then he and I got in the car to get bread, but it only made a tired sound. I must have talked too long on the phone with Wolfgang in the car the night before. The ignition was on and when it got a little darker, the lights were on too. I was relieved because we still had toast in the cupboard and called the ADAC. We had breakfast and shortly after I received a call from the ADAC man, who announced his arrival in half an hour. There is actually an ADAC breakdown service here on the island in Oevenum. The yellow angel came, connected the cables and a battery, and poof, my engine started again. Unfortunately, a diesel cannot be started with a simple jump start cable. (It wasn't my first experience.) Now it was time to take a drive around the island to recharge the battery. Time passed quickly because I had a long conversation with my friend Anke, as there is a lot of news. Grin. :)

Meanwhile, Gabi and Gisela had made themselves comfortable on the balcony in the sun. I joined them and knitted, told stories, and as usual, we chatted nonsense. So the day went by. In between, we had a 'delicious' canned pea soup and then it was time to get ready. Off we went to Wyk. We enjoyed an ice cream, strolled along the promenade, and incidentally bought a beautiful sweater for Gisela. But somehow I misjudged the time and we arrived at the Kurgartensaal much too early. So we decided spontaneously to have a pizza. Delicious. Then we went to the Kursaal for the piano cabaret. William Wahl performed here with his Wahlgesänge. Even though there were only a few listeners, the atmosphere was great and we were glad that my dear friend Brigitte gave us this tip in Duisburg. Because there was no advertising here. We would have missed it. The evening was worth it. It was fantastic. Thanks Brigitte!!!

When I got home, I called Wolfgang again, but this time without turning on the ignition. Afterwards, I read a little bit aloud and we enjoyed a few sips, and we would finish the rest on the last evening. When we wanted to have some of the yellow liqueur, Gisela said, 'But just a little taste.' 'Gisela,' Gabi said accusingly, 'you already drank some and you liked it.' To which Gisela replied, 'Well then, fill it up.' Maybe we were laughing so hard because we had already had a few drinks, but in any case, it was funny.

We fell into our beds dog-tired, but Gisela and I stayed awake for a long time and got out of bed this morning feeling tired as a result.
