The Seal Center We had a quiet morning because the Seal Center didn't open until three o'clock. When Gabi and I were on the balcony again to smoke, much to Gisela's dismay, I...

Sun and beach
A wonderful day at the beach, although the weather report had announced something different. The sun was shining hot from the sky. First, we sat on the balcony in our swimsuits (Gabi, of course, was reading again, as she almost always does) and then we both went to the beach. Gisela stayed in the apartment with back pain.
I lay with my eyes closed in the sand and listened to the children playing, calling, and crying. The wind gently blew around me and the sun burned on my skin. Since I always wore my glasses, now I also have a white mark when I take off my purple model. Several were frolicking in the water, but that's not really my element. It's wonderful to look at the water, but that's enough. On the right, I saw the island of Sylt and on the left is Amrum.
But then we suddenly saw something black in the water and Gabi laughed and said it's a whale. On closer inspection, we naturally realized that it was an extensive man in a black swimsuit. That was something. When he later plopped down on his blanket, it was impressive. Unfortunately, I didn't see him get up later. In the meantime, I knitted (without glasses) and when the hour was up, the sunbath was enough.
Later we went to a farmer's shop because we all had to buy the delicious raspberry vinegar, and a lot more ended up in the bag. In a grocery store we actually wanted to buy only drinks, but we actually bought half an eel, which is supposed to delight us tomorrow.
After that, we went to the cemetery in Nieblum. That always goes with a vacation for me. It was fascinating how many old tombstones were still standing there. Later I read that there were 265 historic ones. In a booklet, I could read some life stories that explained the tombstones again. Exciting. The inscriptions often referred to the profession or the beloved parents, but many were so weathered that you could no longer recognize the old writings.
The St. Johannis Church standing in the cemetery is the largest of the three medieval churches on Föhr. It was built in the first half of the 13th century, late Romanesque and Gothic influenced, as an extension of the previous building. Inside, we were greeted by a Romanesque granite baptismal font and a triptych Mary altar from the late 15th century. An impressive building, but many repairs had to be made because the salty air and the wind damaged the bricks. Behind the altar is an impressive carving of the coronation of Mary from the late 15th century.
In search of a burial mound, we drove along a coastal road and no matter how hard we looked, we didn't find the burial mound, especially since we have noticed before that the signs here are rather sparsely placed to find tourist highlights.
In the evening, we went back to the 'Wattläufer' to eat. I got a huge portion of shrimp without the actually accompanying salmon, and black bread and fried eggs. What a feast I had. Gisela and Gabi were also satisfied with their choice and on our last evening, we are already registered there for a big barbecue evening. A super nice service and a super good service! And again, a great day comes to an end.
