In the past two days, we have been riding through lonely countryside... little asphalt, lots of unpaved but well-maintained sandy and gravel roads.
Destination: 28.04. Klitmöller (DK) = 70 km
Destination: 29.04. Fjerritslev (DK) = 75 km
This section was a part of the Atlantic Wall from World War II, many bunkers and gun emplacements can still be recognized. The many data on the information boards still make you think, because we didn't actually associate Denmark with the Atlantic Wall.
Now 10 days have passed, over 800 km are behind us, time for a review:
20.04. OL – Beverstedt = 82 km
21.04. St. Magarethen = 100 km
22.04. Büsum = 76 km
23.04. Dargebühl = 102 km
24.04. Ballum (DK) = 63 km
25.04. Esberg (DK) = 77 km
26.04. Hvide Sande (DK) = 91 km
27.04. Thyborön (DK) = 99 km
28.04. Klitmöller (DK) = 70 km
29.04. Fjerritslev (DK) = 75 km
If you want to ride these tours in Denmark, you have to carefully consider which equipment and spare parts to take with you. The fine sand is causing problems for my gearshift, I think I will need my spare chain (which was actually intended for the second half of the North Sea Cycle Tour) already in Norway. The wide Schwalbe tires have proven themselves, even after 800 km we have no technical problems.
