Trip to Christchurch

Published: 26.01.2020

Today I'm going to the city with Duncan. Christchurch was partially demolished in the earthquake in 2011, and the effects can still be seen today. Large parts of the city center have been rebuilt, modern buildings dominate the cityscape. Many people stroll through the streets, the shops are open. There is a small river and large pedestrian zones, a historic tram runs through the city. By the way, the decoration is part of the Chinese New Year festival. We also take a stroll to Duncan's old school, a classic boarding house with a rustic dining hall that could have been straight out of Harry Potter. On the way back, we briefly stop at the seaside and walk along the beach.

In a hardware store (open 7/7), I pick up some paint and sandpaper, then I completely empty the bus. I want it to look presentable for tomorrow's visit to the body shop (I need a positive panel beater report for the WOF). If it's not economically salvageable, the installation will have to be removed anyway. The day ends with a delicious dinner (homegrown vegetables with chicken in a wok) on the terrace...
