Off to Mesopotamia

Before hitting the road again, I'll drive to a viewpoint to see Lake Tekapo from above...the water has an amazing blue color, unfortunately it doesn't come across well in pictures...then I'll continue on SH 79 towards the Rangitata River, which I'll follow upstream. The small road eventually turns into a gravel track, and after 30 km I'll reach Mesopotania. But instead of the expected village with parking spaces for the night, I only come across an old farm, at least with a school and an airfield. So back on the gravel road for another 30 km, there's a cute DOC campsite in the middle of the greenery.
