Saluzzo

The city is an excellent starting point for visiting the Po Valley, the Varaita Valley, and the Maira Valley, which was also my plan. However, Saluzzo itself has a lot of Mediterranean atmosphere to offer, as the photos illustrate.

Apart from the picturesque buildings, streets, and squares, one can see the imposing, beautifully shaped peak of Monte Viso from almost anywhere in the city. At over 3,800 m, towering almost 500 m above its neighbors, it is the highest mountain in the Cottian Alps.
