across the Jura

Published: 04.10.2024

Breakfast at a bar in Saint-Claude, then finally to the hairdresser, a few more errands ... and then I drove northward, regrettably still in the cool 10 degrees Celsius with an overcast sky, to slowly draw closer to Germany. The Jura is a beautiful medium-sized mountain range that certainly holds its charm as a cross-country skiing destination in winter.

Unintentionally, the Google lady guided me to the place from which my favorite cheese gets its name, Morbier! Of course, I visited a cheese shop (to be honest, it was a supermarket, but (!) with an excellent cheese counter), where I could choose from six different varieties of Morbier.

In the afternoon, I then reached the village of Lods without any further incidents, nestled deep in a gorge-like valley of the Loue. Here, I checked into the Hotel de France for one night - and finished writing this travel report, almost finished.
