Courageously, we set off on public transport to the Bachkovo Monastery (about 30 km south of Plovdiv), the second largest monastery in Bulgaria. At the bus station, the first driver refused to take us. He was very curt. We were lucky with the second driver as his bus wasn't fully booked. Will we come back? It remains exciting...
