Great Round Trail No. 6 around Bischofsheim

Today there was another habitat development. We set off on the Round Hike Number 6 starting in Bischofsheim. Unlike yesterday, there was no snow and it was sunny. A strong wind was blowing, but I still have my winter coat: no problem!

Sweden Wall Info

Our path led from the start in a north-northwest direction. Roughly: to the west is Hesse, to the east and south is Bavaria. Passing by the Sweden Wall, which consists of unspectacular earth mounds running parallel up the hill (Eugen Irxmeier probably has a somewhat different view on this).

Boundary Walkers

Behind the Sweden Wall, in our direction of travel, one can find boundary stones from the year 1872.

Boundary Stone Bavaria/Hesse
Boundary stone, looking east from Bavaria to Hesse

On one side is KB for Kingdom of Bavaria (now without a kingdom) and on the opposite side the Kingdom of Prussia (now part of Hesse).

So I crouch on the meadow and look to the east. The boundary stone reads KB, thus Bavaria. First thought: someone has turned the boundary stone, it happens that there are such pranksters. Second thought: from the boundary stone, it indicates where you are looking. Michael says this is not the case; the respective territory is always on the correct side.

The solution:

Boundary Line Hesse-Bavaria at Sweden Wall

How can one possibly think up such a ridiculous boundary line over 200 sqm of meadow! No wonder that all boundary walkers are confused when they stop at this Bavarian meadow peninsula at the boundary stone.

Romantic Moorbach

Later on, we crossed the Moorbach, which winds romantically under the Moor Bridge. Moss-covered stones, soft gurgling, sparkling sunlight, and gentle warmth on my fur: thus, spring can come.
