Colombian by Nature

This morning we continued on to the next stop on our journey. The destination: Salento in the so-called Coffee Triangle of Colombia. As travel options, there was a roughly eight-hour (night) bus ride or a short flight to choose from. Unsurprisingly, we opted for the flight.

So around 10 a.m., it was time to leave the big city and head into nature. For Colombian standards, the plane was on time, but if we apply even moderate German standards, the 40-minute wait on the tarmac was quite frustrating. But that's fine – we are on vacation and have the time for it. When the hotel shuttle we ordered in Pereira also took an extra hour to arrive, it didn’t make much difference.

The ride from Pereira airport to Salento already hinted at what awaited us. An unbelievably beautiful landscape, pure jungle, green hills, all garnished with sun rays.

As our driver safely maneuvered the vehicle up the last hairpin bend to our hotel for the coming days, it became clear that this destination is an absolute must on a trip to Colombia. We are so excited about the coming days and hope to see as much as possible here.

We spent the afternoon exploring the tiny town of Salento, which we could reach in just a few minutes via a short jungle walk. Unsurprisingly, it is quite touristy, but lovely. The little town simply invites you to stroll. For dinner, we had a combination of Asian and Colombian cuisine. The best answer to the question of how it was?! Interesting! ;-)

To end the evening, we will have a drink on the terrace accompanied by 'music' from the jungle ahead of us.
