There was no planned program for today. The girls took the opportunity early in the morning to have a so-called 'Nature Bath' with a hotel employee. It was nice that the tour, according to the information, was supposed to start at 6:30 AM in the hotel garden. Of course, we couldn't have guessed that no one here thought anyone would take it seriously. Mara and Nadi were ready at 6:24 AM, but the guide didn't arrive until 7:30 AM. I'm curious to see when we will internalize the concept. :-D On the short tour through the immediate surroundings of the hotel, we received information about the local flora and fauna. I, on the other hand, went for a jog, which was more challenging than expected due to the hilly terrain.
After breakfast, we went back to Salento, this picturesque little village. One experiences Salento's unique charm while strolling through the colorful streets and alleys with their buildings from the colonial era. This is best showcased at the Plaza de Bolivar Salento, the vibrant main square of the small town. Here you can best orient yourself, and it is the perfect starting point for tours of any kind.
In the center of the square stand tall palm trees, and all around you find shops with handicrafts, souvenirs, small cafés, and the church built in Spanish style. From here we ventured onto the main street, the Galla Real. It is lively here, with bustling offers, trading, and purchasing. Nadi found something and got new shoes right away.
Interestingly, the small Pasaje Real is particularly lovely. If you are looking for the perfect souvenir, you will definitely find it there. Once you have navigated through the street, you stand in front of a steep staircase leading up the hill. According to the stories, this was built in honor of Felix Magath. ;-) In any case, once you have conquered this grueling climb, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views.
We are enjoying dinner today in the hotel's own restaurant; we need to be up early at 8 AM tomorrow... we are excited!
