After saving ourselves from the Asian rush at Emerald Lake, we stopped by the Wapta Falls. The path to the Wapta Falls was actually something that came closest to a gravel road. The turnoff to the falls was not paved and had to be driven carefully, and it was another 2.5 km from the parking lot to the actual destination. Maybe that's why there were so few people here, or maybe it's because it started raining on the way. However, not much and not for long.
When we arrived at the falls after a short hike, the weather cleared up and the sun came out. After admiring the waterfalls from above, we walked down to the river where we were completely alone. In front of us, the river, behind us, the roaring waterfall, around us, the quiet forest and no one in sight. And also, the sun! It was really wonderful to be here and we stayed at this beautiful place for quite a while, where the only sound was that of the waterfall. We enjoyed nature to the fullest. After a while, a few small groups arrived. Nothing that was particularly disturbing, but we had to slowly start heading back anyway. After all, we still had to walk back to the car and drive back to Golden. But the way there wasn't too far.
Back in Golden, we got ready for dinner and found a Greek restaurant. One of the few nights where we treated ourselves to eating out. The weather had now become really beautiful, sunny and pleasantly warm. The weather forecast for the next few days also promised good things for the national park. It's just a shame that the time had come for us to leave the national parks and slowly make our way back to Vancouver! Of course, as soon as the weather gets better, we have to leave...
But the journey wasn't over yet. Tomorrow we would be going to Kamloops, where a whopping 30 degrees were forecast. Let's see how we would survive this temperature difference....
