We're back

Published: 10.06.2023

Home :-)

We spent our last day in San Francisco mainly at the airport. We were both awake before the alarm clock, had breakfast, and tried to get out of this motel hole as soon as possible. Since our flight was scheduled to depart at 2:35 p.m., it wasn't worth going anywhere else. So, we returned the car and checked in our luggage. At the baggage drop-off: Madam, the flight is overbooked. You have already checked in, but if you want, we can book you a flight for tomorrow and cover all expenses. And what's on top? - Nothing.
No, then we want to fly now. We would have been willing to talk if they had offered a small compensation or at least better seats, but just because they accepted too many bookings, an extra night, no way. The car was already gone and half the day wasted. There wouldn't have been anything else to do except sit in a hotel and be bored. No, no. After the security check, we had about 2 hours left and thought we would grab a bite to eat. If any of you are at the airport in SF, never go to 1300 on Filmore to eat. You are instructed to order and pay via the QR code on the table. We did that. Almost an hour went by, still no drinks. Many people around us who were there before us also had nothing, then others who came after us immediately had food and drinks. When asked: Oh, sorry ten minutes. After another half an hour, the young man came to tell us that the drinks we ordered were out (iced tea and orange juice)🙄 Okay, then cola? - Also out🙄 Just in time, alternative drinks arrived along with Jörg's cold burger and my cold sandwich 🙄 Really annoying... Absolutely not recommended. They don't have a clue there.
Barely finished with our delicious dinner #ironyout, boarding started. At least that went pretty quickly. The flight itself was smooth except for a short roller coaster ride over Canada😅 The food was good, the staff was very friendly, it was fine. Our plane was only about 20 minutes late. I've experienced it differently before, so everything is in the green zone. Arrived in Frankfurt, everything went pretty quickly. The luggage arrived pretty fast, which is not a given, on our last trip to the USA, Sandra and I had to wait for over an hour for anything to happen. Customs without any problems, full boring😅 The shuttle to the parking lot Platzhirsch arrived just as we were waiting at the bus stop. Packed the car, a short desperate search for the phone, in which half of the parking lot staff participated. Really very nice all of them. Found the phone in the trunk between the suitcases and we were already on the highway towards the Black Forest ❤️ We made it through without any traffic or other incidents. Now we are struggling with jet lag, over 30 hours on our feet without sleep😅 Fortunately, we still have Sunday tomorrow to acclimate😉 So 2 or 3 days lazy at the beach would be just what's missing now. But☝🏼, you can't have it all. In any case, we had a super great vacation with many impressions, cool experiences, and adventures. 3386 miles = 5449.24 km are now behind us. Let's let it all sink in, maybe there will be a review in the next few days😅 And if not, it will continue here at our next big trip😉😊 See you then👋🏼

Notes:

1. My double and triple wrapped and secured pine cone survived the flight undamaged and is now on the shelf🥰

2. Once again, I ran a few sacred adidas in the USA. I think SF was a good place to retire them 😅
