My second trip to New Zealand starts on Friday afternoon with a train journey from St. Wendel to Frankfurt Airport. Check-in at Singapore Airlines and security control goes smoothly and I arrive at the departure gate early. Here, the flight SQ325 to Singapore departs at 21:55.
The flight itself is uneventful and on Saturday at 17:15 local time, we reach Changi International Airport. During the two and a half hour waiting time until the connecting flight, I stroll around the terminal. At 19:50, I continue with flight SQ297 to Christchurch.
The Airbus 350-900 lands there at 10:17. Unfortunately, the line at the biosecurity is very long, so I can only leave the airport shortly before 12 o'clock. It's 33 degrees and there's a strong wind; I take the shuttle bus to the car rental company. At Apex Rentals Cars, I get a Toyota RAV4 and then check into the motel for two nights. At a shopping center, I buy a cooler box and batteries and get some food.
Then I drive to the city center. Since I also landed here on my first visit and already visited the sights at that time, I make a short detour to New Brighton Pier. The lighting conditions are very diffuse today, so I return to the motel early, review photos and write the report.
