October Recap

Published: 09.12.2024

At the beginning of October, there was a Holiday Program, which I wrote a bit about in the previous post.

In the second week, Holly, who led the holiday program, invited us over, and we got to ride her horse Ricky Baker. Afterwards, we watched a movie and stayed overnight at her place.

In the following week, we often went to Papamoa Beach and ordered pizza once to eat there :)
On Wednesday, I went to a dance class with Anja for the first time, and it was really fun! The other dance couples were all older than us, but it was still a lot of fun. :)
Over the weekend, we met with a few people at the beach for a campfire, which was really cool, even if it did get a bit chilly at times. We spent Saturday in Taupō, where there was a horse fair, which was very interesting. There were Western shows, show jumping, and many sales stalls. There were also really cool cowboy hats, but I didn't buy any.

On Sunday, I went with the others to Mount Maunganui, and on the way, I saw several Tui (these are native birds here).

On Monday, the weather was so good that we spontaneously decided to go to Papamoa Hills for a walk after work. This time we took a different route than the first time, and you could see from the top all the way to the ocean. :)
On Thursday, we went to a waterfall close by, the Whataroa Falls. The path went through the forest the whole time and was a bit stretched out, but the waterfall was very beautiful, and I even got to dip in for a moment, although that was really cold.😬

On November 1st, it was Labour Day, an official holiday in New Zealand, which we took advantage of: On the last weekend of October, we were in Northland with Holly and her friends at Tutukaka and Matapouri. For that, we got up very early on Saturday and set off so that we would be in Whangarei in the morning, where we ate something and checked out the Whangarei Falls.
Afterwards, we headed to Tutukaka, where we saw many stingrays in the harbor. That was really amazing because I had never seen stingrays in the wild before.😁
Otherwise, we were also in the sea and wanted to go snorkeling, but unfortunately, the waves were too high, and we couldn't see anything.
And just like that, October was over again. ;)
