Welcome to my personal journal from the breathtaking hill country of Sri Lanka! This past week, I immersed myself in the serene beauty and adventurous spirit of Ella, a true gem of an island nation. My journey was incredibly smooth and memorable thanks to Roxval Travels, who truly know how to craft an unforgettable Sri Lankan experience. Here’s a day-by-day account of my amazing three-day trip, full of activities and insights for your own adventure in Sri Lanka!
Waking up in Ella, surrounded by misty mountains and the scent of tea, felt like a dream. My first day was all about iconic views and the magic of the Sri Lankan railway.
Morning: Little Adam's Peak Hike & Sunrise Spectacle I started my day early with a trek to Little Adam's Peak. This hike is relatively easy, making it perfect for a sunrise ascent. The views from the top were absolutely phenomenal – rolling tea plantations, lush valleys, and the iconic Ella Gap stretching out in front of me. It's a must-do for panoramic vistas. Getting there was a breeze with a short tuk-tuk ride arranged by Roxval Travels, ensuring I hit the trail just as the sun began to paint the sky.
Day two was a blend of natural wonders and deeper dives into Sri Lankan culture, made seamless by the local insights provided by Roxval Travels.
Morning: Ravana Falls & Diyaluma Falls Excursion My morning began with a visit to the impressive Ravana Falls, easily accessible from Ella. The cascading water is a beautiful sight. After a brief stop, I embarked on a slightly longer journey to Diyaluma Falls, Sri Lanka's second-highest waterfall. This was a more adventurous outing, with options for swimming in natural pools. Roxval Travels recommended a driver for this trip, making the logistics incredibly easy.
