Zeeland (NL) - Part 2 - Domburg and Westkapelle
The first excursion went to Domburg. Nice little town: many shops and restaurants and mainly German guests... The walk along the promenade on the dune was still worth seeing....

Vlissingen is not the most beautiful place in Zeeland, but it still has some nice corners to offer.
The harbor facilities with pilot and marina were worth seeing. This is also where the big boats pass by if they want to go to Antwerp through the Westerschelde. That's quite a spectacle!
The old stock exchange dates from 1625 and was built in the style of Dutch Renaissance.
Michiel de Ruyter (1607 - 1676) is the greatest naval hero of the Dutch. He grew up in Vlissingen as the son of a simple brewery assistant. Most of his life he spent at sea, either for whale hunting around Spitsbergen or on trade ships heading for Brazil and India. He was also an admiral and strategist and led command in several naval wars so successfully that he was considered one of the most famous men of his time.
