Kennedy Space Center

Published: 24.03.2022

8.3. It rained heavily last night, so we packed up the soaking wet tent in plastic bags. We continue driving towards the East Coast and arrive at Manatee Hammok Campground. Once again, we are lucky and get a spot for the next 2 nights. We quickly set up our tent and hang the rain fly over the picnic table to dry. After that, we visit the Kennedy Space Center with its numerous exhibits. It is incredibly impressive! We especially enjoy the presentations about the Space Shuttle Atlantis - breathtaking. Afterwards, we have lunch at a bowling center. The windows are covered with foil, so we don't realize until much later that it has been raining heavily again! We quickly pay and return to the campsite. Our tent is underwater and even wetter than in the morning. We turn it upside down, then tighten the rain fly and hope that everything will dry by the time we want to crawl inside. Luckily, we hadn't put our sleeping bags in yet, so it could have been worse... Since everything is soaked, we go to Playalinda Brewery and find a spot at the bar. When we return to the tent, the tropical weather has done its job and we can sleep while everything dries.
