Poor Knights Diving

Friends of the sea,

the time has finally come! I went diving!

In New Zealand, there are several options for diving, but the most popular choice is a diving trip to the Poor Knights - a chain of islands located to the northeast of New Zealand. This is one of the most beautiful trips and also one that isn't as expensive as diving in the Milford Sounds.

So I went to the dive school early in the morning, and after a brief fitting of the diving equipment, we boarded the boat and headed north for about 1 hour to the dive sites. After a quick briefing, we were off into the water.

The weather cleared shortly after we arrived, making it a bit brighter underwater, and the colors really stood out.

During the dive, we spotted a gigantic short-tail stingray right at the beginning, and another one swam in front of us during the dive. Overall, it was a fantastic dive, and I will let the pictures from both dives do the talking:

A fantastic experience here in New Zealand's waters and a true dream to see the giant stingrays. On the way back to the harbor, we also saw some dolphins, and when we arrived, it started pouring rain. I had actually planned to spend another night at the campsite, but after the intense rain and being so hyped from the dive, I decided to drive a bit toward home, so I wouldn't have to drive the whole distance the next day. Well, somehow my body switched to functional mode, and I actually drove the entire approximately 5-hour journey home. The advantage of this was that I was back in my home and had my familiar surroundings. Additionally, I could also use the next day to run some errands in Hamilton with Finn and Marilou.
