77. Stage 'Piraeus/Patras'

Published: 08.10.2024

We arrived punctually in Piraeus, and after escaping the morning rush hour, the drive to Patras was pleasant, with great weather and no issues. I needed to get tickets and find a place to change and tinker with my bike. I found the latter at a Honda dealer. I wanted to add a bit of oil to the front fork for the return trip. Since leaving Georgia, one of the fork tubes has been leaking oil. That went quite well, allowing me to enjoy the rest of the day. However, my enjoyment was somewhat dampened by the fact that my phone decided to stop working. I left for the ferry around 8 PM, even though boarding wasn't supposed to start until 10 PM. When I arrived, there were already a few vacationers waiting, and I quickly struck up a conversation with them. This made the wait considerably more entertaining. The boarding process was simple and straightforward. I also quickly found and set up my sleeping spot. Thank goodness I have my camping gear with me.

08.10.2024: Slept well and woke up at 7 AM. When I came out of the washroom, I found that we were still in the harbor. At first, I couldn't believe it. According to information from other passengers, there seemed to be a problem with the loading ramp.
