Our neighborhood in Schölcher is very close to a beautiful beach, but the accommodation is - to put it mildly - a bit run-down. Nevertheless, we have to deal with it. After my daily morning swim and our lavish breakfast with eggs, muesli, cheese, jam, tomatoes, cucumbers, and coffee, we head to the Jardin de Balata. This botanical garden is not far from Fort France. It is one of the most beautiful gardens in the Caribbean. On a three-hectare garden area, there are about 3000 different plant species, hummingbirds, fish, lizards, and much more. For the suspension bridge, which is positioned at treetop height, one should not be afraid of heights. Babsi dared to cross it, and I viewed the suspension bridge from below - that was also fine. We continue our journey to Saint-Pierre, with a spontaneous stop by a small river. We see many people swimming in it as if in a pool. There we see two massage tables, right in the middle of the river. That’s certainly a unique type of massage, and soon we have changed and are relaxing on the table, enjoying a very pleasant 20-minute Ayurvedic massage. Feeling relaxed, we arrive in Saint-Pierre after 1 PM. Saint-Pierre is a coastal town that was destroyed in 1902 by an eruption of the Pelée volcano. Since its reconstruction, the town has become a popular tourist spot. The beaches there often have black sand - volcanic sand. We take a break at Le Café du Marché and treat ourselves to coffee, cake, and ice cream. For the return trip, we take the coastal road. This takes us via Le Carbet and Bellefontaine back to Schölcher. Today, we also need to clean the car since we have to return it tomorrow. Once more, we head to our really beautiful beach and jump into the water to swim. To finish, we enjoy a wonderful sunset.
