Tag 14: Sombor - Bačka Palanka

Published: 14.05.2024

After a quick breakfast with coffee (the kitchen at the campsite was well equipped) and cereal bars, I set off shortly after 8 a.m. This morning it was very cloudy, but no rain. In Apatin I drove past the "Jelen" brewery and then had a third breakfast in a bakery. The route today was quite unimpressive in terms of scenery, it mainly went past fields. At the beginning it was mainly country roads / field paths that were in varying condition. Later on, I went over a dam again a lot. You can't see much of the Danube here, it is mostly hidden by a row of trees behind the dam. Later on, the route conditions became really adventurous in places, at times you wished you had a full-suspension mountain bike. But it went quite well with the gravel bike, especially the luggage sat really well despite massive potholes. On some of the paths I wondered how you would get through them if it had rained for a few days. I can't and don't want to imagine what a mud fight that would be.

In the afternoon the clouds cleared a little and the sun came out. I reached Bačka Palanka around 5 p.m. Here I checked into the Hotel Fontana, as there was no campsite and the marshland on the banks of the Danube is a protected landscape area. I didn't want to camp wild there.

Hi Moritz! Mir scheint, du kommst super voran. Weiterhin toi toi toi! Wann ist denn "Bergfest"? Oder war das schon? Gruß! Stefan

Hey Stefan, Bergfest war gestern Abend in etwa. Ab Belgrad sind es noch 1.400km laut Bikeline. Und bis Belgrad habe ich jetzt noch ca. 130km.
