12.09.2019 chaotic and Van conversion

Published: 12.09.2019

Man, these past few weeks have been quite something. Mike was so unhappy on his farm that we were actually about to leave within a few days. However, he reached out and things have improved a lot since then, although we don't want to go into too much detail here.

Mike's schedule changed again just as Jenny's farmer made the first change possible. We almost didn't have a single day off! Well, the farmer Jenny works for said that we'll find a way to adjust it for her as well.

We've talked to both of our farms and agreed that October 13th will be our last working day. While the work is fun, we just want to start traveling already. The last time we had a proper vacation in Germany was during Christmas 2018. We did have some time off in the last 1.5 months before the trip, but to be honest, it was sometimes more stressful than anything else. We couldn't really enjoy it. We're looking forward to moving forward and once summer is over here next February, we'll start working again.

You can imagine the work here as working 9-10 hours a day for 6 days in a row. On the 7th day, you have a day off, but on that day, you have to drive 40 minutes to go shopping and convert the van. Not very relaxing, right?

We finally made some progress on the van today, see the pictures :) so far, we're quite happy and hope everything goes as planned.

The weather here is very changeable. One day it's 17 degrees and sunny, the next day it's -4 degrees and snowing... then it's rain and storm again. You can't really rely on any weather apps here.

Besides work, we've baked bread again and this time we made our own meat pies.

See you soon :)
