Rendsburg

Next destination Rendsburg.

We had planned a stop in Rendsburg at the motorhome parking area by the Kreishafen, right by the Nord-Ostsee Canal, which also features the transporter bridge under the railway bridge across the canal. Unfortunately, we arrived too late, and all parking spots were occupied. The transporter bridge is an absolute technical marvel and left us quite impressed.

In Rendsburg, there are three motorhome parking areas managed by a single operator, so after taking photos of the ferry, we continued to the motorhome parking area at the Schachtholm NOK airfield. Unfortunately, the ferry does not accommodate motorhomes. We found a spot there for 18 euros plus electricity, which was perfectly fine. There are waste disposal and water supply facilities available, but there are no showers or toilets.

The overnight stay was very interesting; behind us, huge ships passed through the canal, and in front of us, sports planes took off and landed, which made for a fascinating mix.
