After a restless night (the ferry tilts quite sharply), I wake up abruptly: the captain announces our arrival in Maniitsoq. Quickly thrown into my ice jacket and out I go.
At the harbor, the Jehovah's Witnesses are waiting at a stand but garner no interest. The attention is rather focused on the kayak being lifted on board.

Back in my beloved
panorama lounge. The snow-covered mountains rise steeply. Some look like sugarloafs. That's also what the area is called.
Apparently, we are traveling east of Hamborgerland, not over open sea. Some glaciers reach down between the mountain peaks almost to the water.

The captain announces something, and the first rush outside. A whale? Exactly. The spout is briefly visible, the back arches, the tail rises out of the water. And then it's gone.

As I only have a light jacket on (the goal was the lounge!), I'm almost freezing; the temperatures differ massively now from those in the south. We are about to cross the Arctic Circle shortly.
Back in the lounge, the next highlight: A Greenlandic women's group sings folk songs. A very melodic singing.
An Austrian woman responds with yodeling.
It's already an eventful day.

On a small island, a mast can be seen. The smartphone shows reception. Almost in the middle of nowhere, three-quarters of an hour before arriving at the next harbor!
