Hello everyone! Today, Cindy is writing a report again. Since we have relaxed for the past two days, I finally have the energy for it.
After the great visit to Nantes, we decided to cancel Bordeaux and instead relax by the sea. Without knowing where we would end up, we started driving along the coast. After 10 rejections, we finally got lucky and landed in Châtelaillon, not far from La Rochelle.
The l'Océan campsite has an artificially created lagoon with a sandy beach and loungers. Perfect for relaxing.
In the evening, we went to the nearby town, walking along the beach promenade, the kids barefoot in the white sand (my electric scooter doesn't have all-wheel drive, so I had to stay on the sidewalk).
Steffi and I actually had our first wedding anniversary on the 22nd and wanted to go out for dinner (strangely, the girls didn't want to stay in their tent and give us some alone time :) ). We found a great restaurant right on the beach, where I could finally eat mussels. I was completely surprised that Elisa and Amélie liked them too and ate them eagerly (I must have passed on a few French genes). Steffi was very brave and ordered fish without knowing what it was: you can see the result in the photo. She actually ate everything except the heads. Hats off!
Afterwards, we went to the beach, where a big band was performing with beautiful music (somehow I couldn't convince Steffi that it was my gift to her...). Elisa and Amélie were still joyfully and carelessly swimming in the Atlantic, and we enjoyed the sunset.
A wonderful day!
Yesterday, we didn't do anything except swim, relax, and barbecue. At night, we had to be a little active around two o'clock because it was raining and we had to quickly secure everything.
And today we continue our journey strengthened and spend our last night in France before our adventure continues in Spain.
