After Medellín and the Coffee Triangle, we drive about 12 hours further east into the region around San Gil. The town itself is not particularly beautiful, but the idyllic surroundings are! For outdoor enthusiasts, it's an absolute paradise: Rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping, caving, and canyoning...

We are fortunate with our accommodation: a hostel with a beautiful patio and a spacious kitchen...

We are taking it relatively easy (unfortunately, I overstrained my shoulder 😆) and exploring the rural surroundings: The hike on the historic Camino Real from the town of Barichara is very relaxed, the little town of Guane, where we arrive, is very original and has a great charm!

For another trip, we drive to the village of Curiti, from where we can visit the swimming spots “Pescaderito”. The river here forms numerous natural rock pools in a cascading manner, and the water is much warmer!

We would have loved to visit the Chicamocha Canyon - with a length of over 200 km, it is the second-largest canyon in the world! At least we could see it during our journey...

Lastly, we take a quick look at the Salt Cathedral just before Bogotá, before leaving the continent from the capital.
