Today the car had to be returned at 8am. So we had to get up early and set off without breakfast. We had ordered breakfast TO GO yesterday evening. After heavy rain and storms during the night, the question was whether the plane would take off or not. It poured again in the morning, and the departure was delayed, but it did take place. The faces made of volcanic rock at the airport in Pico wished us a safe journey. When we landed on Sao Domingo, the sun was shining. In a fully occupied 36-person plane, we took 45 minutes to the island where we had already spent a few days at the beginning of the Azores trip. At the airport, the dolphin greeted us, as everyone would like to see one but only a few experience it. We decided not to try it. This time we had a small Fiat and headed south, to the "Caloura" hotel 13km away in the village of the same name. This was a good last stop, as the complex is set in a well-kept garden and right on a bay. We tried the snack bar straight away, the beef fillet and tuna steak tasted great, along with cold beer and of course the sun and sea view! Well fortified, we went uphill into the village to "Boavista", one of the typical small supermarkets. You can find everything there and there were a lot of people there today because tomorrow is a holiday (Corpus Christi) and the shops are closed. The coffee on the balcony was well deserved afterwards. However, the rainy area is following us. We'll see how tomorrow turns out.
