The day brought, in addition to the previously mentioned changes, a third one: We set the clocks forward by 1.5 hours again. The time difference to Germany is now 7 1/2 hours. Until the departure to Darwin, where the dinosaur said goodbye to us at the airport, there was still time. We wanted to visit the special cemeteries of Broome. Right in front of them was the 'Caféwagen', where many people on their way to work grabbed their breakfast coffee and a sandwich without having to get out of their cars. We were interested in the Japanese and Chinese cemeteries. Both were established for immigrants. The Japanese cemetery was first created for the unfortunate pearl divers who, as we learned yesterday, began bringing valuable pearls to land by the end of the 19th century. Even today, deceased individuals of these nationalities are buried in both cemeteries. Here, fresh flowers are not placed on graves, but rather plastic flowers, shells, and personal belongings of the deceased. After that, we strolled through a shopping center that had various shops, including a pharmacy, post office, clothing stores, technology retailers, and groceries, and we still had time… The airport was just around the corner. We returned the car and headed to the check-in area, where there was hardly any activity! The flight was scheduled for 1:45 PM. After an hour, there was a planned stopover. According to the current time, we arrived in Darwin at 6:30 PM. The sun was already gone, so there was no sunset today! At AVIS we got car No. 4, a Toyota. We need to give it a good look in daylight tomorrow. In the dark, we headed to the hotel, and oh surprise, there was 'life' here even after 8 PM! The hotel is located on the city beach, and many restaurants were still well-attended. We indulged in 2 cocktails and enjoyed the summer evening.
