Today, after a peaceful night, we headed into nature. The main attraction was the Botanical Garden with its large aviaries in Maleny. You can only enter these as part of a guided tour, where you walk among the birds inside. As you can see, we both don't just have 'one bird'. You can certainly feel the claws of a macaw on your scalp! The garden is beautifully laid out on a slope, with many paths, ponds, and lawns enhancing its charm. A great joy for both adults and especially kids was the petting area. In the rose garden, the roses actually smelled nice. The weather was not too hot, and we leisurely strolled through the area for three hours. Of course, we were also building something. This garden has an entrance fee; the owner is a private individual from South Africa. For lunch, we went to the Bavarian-Austrian inn 'King Ludwig's German Restaurant' for schnitzel; pork knuckle was also on the menu, but we don't really like it even at home. It's a cozy restaurant with German food, around 35 types of German beer, Bavarian decorations, Bavarian music, and a friendly Austrian innkeeper. The portions were large, so we simply couldn't fit in any more apple strudel. From the surrounding terrace, we had a wonderful view of the mountain panorama! On the way back, we also took a look at the small but charming town of Montville. There are many lovely shops there. Now and then, some opening hours 'irritate' us; some cafés, for example, had already closed by 3:30 PM. To wrap up, we quickly went to Aldi to do our shopping, and just like that, the day was over.
