Another sunset already, this time inland, at Cheela Plains Station Stay, 470 km from Exmouth. It was an endless stretch; we drove inland and there was only one reason to deviate from the road. After about 300 km, we reached the first and only gas station on the way here. Payment is made at the machine in advance, and we gradually understood the 'operation' of it. It had the highest price for diesel that we have paid so far, approximately €1.80. A lunch break was also on the agenda, and there were some covered seating areas, so we took the opportunity. Gas stations offer food and drinks, just like at home, and here we could also find some souvenirs, including CDs. We even managed to photograph two Road Trains (truck giants), which sometimes pull three trailers, and we had already seen quite a few on the way. They are labeled 'Road Train' and truly resemble small trains in length. The earth became darker red, with occasional mountain ranges and wide dry riverbeds. We were relieved when the turn to our accommodation finally came! We are back at 'Snow White' behind the mountains. From a distance, it looked 'sporty', but our room for one night is well-furnished, with everything you might need. A cattle ranching family operates this resort. There are tents, campsites, various categories of bungalows, sanitary facilities, and a large communal kitchen - all on red earth! Our shoes now also look like this. The photo attraction is the giant scrapped machines that were previously used in mines. In the evening, we observed a large flock of pink cockatoos. Due to lack of alternatives, we even booked dinner tonight. For everyone who reserved, the same dish was served, along with a delicious dessert and a drink of choice. We sat outside and struck up a conversation with our table neighbors. A couple from Colorado gave us tips for our next travel destination. The young archaeologists talked about their work nearby. On the way to the bungalow, we were able to admire a beautiful starry sky!
