Greetings to all the men on 'Father's Day'! This celebration doesn't exist here, and we also have to make sure not to lose track of such things. It was a travel day, which meant almost 400 km straight ahead today, aside from a few curves. We felt like the roads here are only built for tourists. There were motorhomes, cars with trailers or boats, and also some 'normal' cars like the ones we drive. On the left and right of the road, there was only low shrubbery in the sand. The colors changed from white, to shades of yellow, to reddish-brown. Occasionally, we spotted some sheep or goats. After 200 km, our first highlight: the Billabong Roadhouse - actually a gas station with a huge parking lot. All vehicles, no matter which direction they came from, made a stop there. It was also a pub, guesthouse, souvenir shop, and there were some groceries available as well. We bought, besides diesel, this delicious yogurt with local mango. The souvenir depicted next to it was simply found to be 'unusual'. We continued straight through the wide expanse. We made a stop at 'Shell Beach', which has even earned a World Heritage title. Why? The entire white beach consists of small white shells. It’s actually a great picnic spot, but here too, the bush flies were everywhere, so a walk was only possible with a head net on.

Eventually, even the longest distances are covered. Our destination was the 'Monkey Mia Resort', on the east side of a peninsula that juts out about 170 km into the ocean. This place is particularly famous for its 'wild dolphins'. While wandering around the area, we observed an emu that was inspecting the campers’ trailers in search of food. From our bungalow, we saw many dolphins, some came very close to the shore. A sea turtle also wanted to get in the picture. Otherwise, the resort offers everything families like to do. Since it's school time, besides the greybacks, only families with small children are around. As mentioned before, we have a bungalow near the beach, and the ocean here, compared to yesterday, is very calm. Let's see what else awaits us here?
