United Way Fairmont

In the morning we drove to Fairmont to do some volunteering work.

At first we helped in the Soup Opera which is a place where homeless people can get clothes and a warm meal. Here one group folded and sorted the donated clothes and the other group cooked the warm meal for the day. It was shocking for us to see how many volunteers work here to help organize everything.

Next we helped in the community garden to prepare it for summer. Here people can pay to have a raised garden bed and to help clean up the community.

After that we got some lunch and we went to The Disability Action Center, which is an organisation that helps disabled people to get jobs and continue their education. Here we built picnic tables for their center.

After our work we drove to our houses and we cooked some dinner and enjoyed the evening on the lake.
