The weather was wonderful, with beautiful sunshine and after a few steps up the mountains, we could take off our jackets. Even short and long rain showers couldn't stop us, as true Bogotanians, both new and established, know no pain.
After a short distance, Rey Felipe also appeared, who accompanied us for a long time. The rain showers couldn't stop him either, as he bravely continued to march by our side. But we should have interpreted the signs better and joined our little king as he quickly turned around at very muddy sections of the trail. A king doesn't get his paws dirtier than necessary. But we, as foot soldiers, bravely trudged on... for a whole 200 meters, until we found ourselves knee-deep in the deepest mud.
So close to our goal, we unfortunately had to turn back and focus on the descent.
Even though we didn't complete the circuit, we were able to see a lot of the beautiful nature and now know how happy cows should live.
To finish, we rewarded ourselves with delicious trout from the region and went home with full stomachs and tiredness.
Unfortunately, we never saw Rey Felipe again, but he will surely continue to rule over his kingdom high in the mountains and occasionally accompany lonely foot soldiers on their way.
