Good & Bad Decisions @ Noosa

After our two-day break on the island, we are returning to civilization today - really. We visit the shopping street and the national park in Noosa, a popular vacation spot, so there are a few more people around. In fact, the morning starts off very relaxed with an hour of yoga offered by the hostel. Disadvantage: The start is at 6:30 AM Advantage: It’s still not too hot.
Then we take the ferry as a whole group for about half an hour to the center of Noosa; the captain is a mix of Captain Blue Bear and Micky Krause in terms of humor. In Noosa, we have an hour for breakfast, and I can FINALLY have Eggs Benedict. And YES, they are really unbelievably delicious (I apologize for too much Eggs Benedict content, but food is certainly an important part of the culture of other countries, and I cannot provide any insight on the taste of kangaroo meat).
After that, we hike for an hour along the coast to Hells Gate and then swim in the Fairy Pools. These are small basins filled with seawater in the rock formations that fill up with water depending on how (un)calm the sea is. In fact, the other three people I am currently with actually did not want to go in the water, but I manage to convince them, and the American in the group awards me the title 'Good Decisionmaker' in the end. I explain to him that he should just always listen to me in the future.
After we made it back, we are actually hungry and really in the mood for frozen yogurt, but we also keep the suggestion from our tour guide in mind to take a 15-minute round trip to a lookout point. The three of us head in that direction until we stand in front of a very steep staircase that we regard skeptically. I would pass, but the American decides: We are doing this!
The path turns out to be very steep, very strenuous, and twice as long as announced; the view at the top compensates a bit, but not completely. The American gives himself the title 'Bad Decisionmaker' and agrees with me that he should listen to me in the future. At least we have truly earned the sushi and frozen yogurt afterward; I also convince a fellow traveler to buy a bikini, and then we head back, where we take advantage of happy hour at the hostel before packing our bags and collapsing into bed, exhausted.
