11.06.2018 White Rock & Crescent Beach

Actually, we slept quite well on the first night after the 9-hour time difference. We were awake for a while at 2 o'clock, but luckily we were able to sleep until 5:30 am - at least 😉

Then we checked the WLAN to see what's new with our friends in Germany and did some googling to find out what the day has in store for us, because we had decided to take it easy and drive to the 5km away town of White Rock.

So we had breakfast in peace and got ready.

White Rock is located directly on the Pacific Ocean. You can take a nice walk along the water there. There is a pier to the water and several restaurants and pubs.

After 2 hours, we went further to Crescent Beach, a beach section just a little further away. There, too, you can take a nice walk along the sea on gravel paths and if it's really warm, you can go swimming. We were lucky with the weather because it was nice and sunny and not too hot, as it was in Germany in the end.

At some point in the afternoon, we went back to Steve's house. We quickly bought drinks at Walmart and a liquor store and then relaxed in Steve's garden until he came home.

We discussed our planned tour with him and got some useful tips. After that, he cooked for us: self-caught salmon, which tasted heavenly, with green asparagus and potatoes. My cousin Kim, whom I last saw in 2007, also came for dinner, so there was a lot to talk about.

Unfortunately, our eyes closed at 9 pm 😩

CONCLUSION: It was a beautiful first day in Canada 🇨🇦
